Family and Commercial Mediation

Mediation is a method of dispute resolution in which the parties co-operate, with the assistance of a mediator, in reaching a mutually satisfactory settlement. It is private, flexible and informal. Mediation is effective – it has an 80% settlement rate and is much less expensive than litigation.

The mediator's role includes:

• meeting with the parties and helping them define the issues of dispute
• managing the mediation process and keeping discussions on track
• helping the parties communicate their views and needs clearly
• assisting the parties to reach an agreement

Cost: $100 - $150 per hour (sliding scale)

Norm is one of nine Family Mediation Canada Certified Comprehensive Mediators in BC and represents BC on Family Mediation Canada's national board. Norm holds mediation certificates from both the Institute of Conflict Analysis & Management and the Continuing Legal Education Society. He is on the BC Attorney-General Civil and Family Mediator Rosters and has mediated in the BC Provincial Courts.
